Roll out of Curriculum Development Advisory (CDA) for Lifting Supervisor Safety Course on 16 Aug 2010

To enhance the competencies and capabilities of the Lifting Supervisor, Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC) has developed a CDA for the Lifting Supervisor Safety Course (LSSC). Following a successful pilot run in May 2010, the CDA has been endorsed by National Crane Safety Taskforce. The CDA comprises key enhancements to the existing syllabus of LSSC, which include the following:
bullet
Planning for Safe Lifting Operations with lifting plan requirements, load chart interpretation and safe work practices
bullet
Supervision of lifting operation for mobile crane and lorry loader
bullet
Common hazards in lifting operation, case studies and the learning points

Please note that there is an assessment on the load chart questions which is included in the written test theory paper. Other modes of assessment include case study/role play/practical, which will test the skills and knowledge of the workers through demonstration. This arrangement should be included in the assessment plan. With these enhancements, the course duration has been increased from 29 hours to 32 hours.
